In a highly complex and meticulously executed engineering project, Electra FM’s Maintenance Division recently completed a vital upgrade to the electrical feed replacement system in the Middle Tower, the residence of the State Comptroller. This initiative addressed a significant engineering challenge: the critical obsolescence of electrical systems that had been in place for over two decades.

During an absorption survey conducted in November 2022, it was identified that the electricity feed replacement systems for the generator in the Tower were critically outdated. These systems, crucial for maintaining a continuous power supply, were installed over 20 years ago. The advanced age of these systems raised serious concerns about potential failures that could compromise the uninterrupted power supply to this essential facility.

The replacement systems were based on legacy circuit breakers manufactured by Cutler Hammer, categorized as “End of Life” (EOL) systems. This meant that these systems were no longer manufactured, and spare parts were unavailable. The professional team highlighted these risks during the absorption survey, noting disabling malfunctions that had already occurred, leaving the facility vulnerable to power outages. Given the absence of available spare parts, it became clear that a full replacement was necessary.

In response to this critical situation, it was decided to proceed with an immediate upgrade of the systems. After evaluating several proposals approved by the client, Kahane, a company renowned for its expertise in advanced electrical solutions, was selected to undertake this complex project.

The work was strategically divided into two phases—upgrading the system in both the upper block (State Comptroller) and the lower block (public). To minimize disruptions to ongoing operations, the project was executed during nighttime hours. The upgrade involved a complete overhaul of the outdated systems, replacing them with cutting-edge solutions featuring circuit breakers from ABB and “Amdar” replacement controllers. The project was led by a professional team from Electra FM, with close collaboration from customer representatives.

The results of this project are notable. There has been a significant improvement in the reliability and continuity of the power supply to the facility, extending the system’s lifespan and markedly reducing maintenance requirements. This upgrade project in the Middle Tower stands as a prime example of the successful application of advanced engineering planning and the precise execution of critical infrastructure work.

Once again, Electra FM’s Maintenance Division has demonstrated its leadership in delivering advanced management and maintenance solutions for critical buildings and infrastructure. Through a combination of technological expertise and flawless execution, the division ensures functional continuity and maximum efficiency for its clients, providing them with the operational security and peace of mind they deserve. Electra FM’s unwavering commitment to excellence continues to set the industry benchmark, ensuring that every project meets the highest standards.
